UPDATE

The New Makers’ Conference, a collaborative event organised with Artichoke is now sold out. We are sorry if you have missed out, but don't worry - we are going bigger and better next year. If you would like to be the first to know about next year's plans and reserve your ticket as soon as they become available, please fill out the online form: https://forms.gle/LPzfHvyKNEbb69gu9

This year’s New Maker’s Conference will feature an impressive line-up of experienced furniture industry leaders, designers-makers and those who are just starting out. We’ll be focusing on how new enterprises start and grow, exploring routes from training into business, and how to achieve results with effective marketing, exhibiting, and retailing. There will be debate about gender imbalance in the furniture industry and how to address it, the effects of climate change and issues around sustainability. Stories will be shared and lessons learned. There will be lots of practical advice for new makers on how to survive the first five years.

The speakers are:

Edward Tadros, former chairman of Ercol

Donna Bellingham, CEO of Shackletons, formerly of Parker Knoll

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Halstock, fitted furniture

Matt Estlea, designer-maker and YouTuber

Simon Burvill, founder of Gaze Burvill, outdoor furniture

Daisy Brunsdon, designer-maker and TV woodworking tutor

Sarah Myerscough, gallery owner showing furniture by top makers

There is a small charge of £15 which includes refreshments and a sandwich lunch. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
